With more than 30 years experience in civil construction, forestry and government agencies, Daryl and Irma Prunnell founded I&D Contracting in 2012. The company provides safety, environmental and quality consulting services to a wide range of clients. In 2019, another branch in the I&D Group of Companies was created, I&D Vegetation, which focusses on slashing, pruning, hedging and more recently, traffic management.
Prior to I&D Contracting, both Daryl and Irma worked as Safety, Environment and Quality Managers in the construction field, in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. They worked on various construction projects, including the construction of the railway line for mining company FMG in the Pilbara Desert in Western Australia. In Darwin, they worked on many construction projects, including the Darwin Waterfront Precinct redevelopment, and various other remote sites.
Daryl worked as a Safety Manager for various other companies and government departments, including the fuel industry (Shell, Brambles, NT Government Fire & Rescue). He started his working life in the Australian Army, as a bombardier. Daryl is an experienced auditor in the field of safety, environment, and quality management. He holds a Diploma in OHS, and is a qualified auditor in AS/NZ4801 (safety) and ISO 14001 (environmental) and holds many industry qualifications, including Cert IV in Training & Assessment, ICAM, chainsaw and traffic management.
These days, you will find Daryl organising and scheduling work for I&D Vegetation, and if he is not in a tractor, he is often found assisting the team in traffic management in the field.
Irma worked in various environmental roles in the government, including the environmental impact assessment with the EPA in the Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, and technical roles in Darwin City Council and the Gold Coast City Council. Irma is originally from the Netherlands, where she worked in contaminated land management prior to moving to Australia permanently in 1996. Irma holds Engineering Degrees in Applied Physics and Environmental Science. She also holds a Cert IV in Training & Assessment, and a Cert IV in OHS. She is a qualified auditor for international standards ISO 45001 and AS/NZ4801 (OHS), ISO 14001 (environmental) and ISO 9001 (quality).
Irma keeps herself busy conducting safety audits in forestry and various other industries, provides safety advice as requested, and also delivers training in Diploma in Environmental Management. When needed, she helps the team out in I&D Vegetation, with their safety and traffic management.
